Forking

When someone else's argument almost captures your view but needs adjustment, you fork it instead of writing a new one from scratch.

When to fork

You agree with the direction of an argument but disagree with the wording, the emphasis, or a specific claim. Forking keeps the lineage visible and lets others compare versions.

How to fork

  1. Open the argument on a thesis page.
  2. Click the fork button and edit the text.
  3. Save. Your fork appears alongside the original, with a link back to the source.

The fork feed

If you voted on the original argument and someone forks it, the fork appears in the orange Fork updates panel in the left sidebar. You can keep your original vote or switch to the new version.
