Heat
How much recent activity a thesis has — visible as a coloured band on the left of every thesis card.
What it measures
Heat compares recent activity (votes and arguments over the last few days) against the thesis's own long-run baseline. A ratio above 1 means the thesis is receiving more attention than usual; below 1 means it has cooled off.
The four levels
- Hot
- Ratio ≥ 2 — noticeably more activity than the baseline. Worth checking in.
- Warm
- Ratio between 1 and 2 — steady discussion, above average.
- Cool
- Ratio between 0.5 and 1 — some activity, below the thesis's own average.
- Cold
- Ratio < 0.5 — quiet. The thesis may have exhausted the current interest.
Why it matters
Heat is a signal, not a ranking. A cold thesis can still be well-argued and settled; a hot thesis can be a fresh flare-up. Use heat to decide where your attention makes the most difference right now.
